Burney, Kathi

Kathi Burney serves as the Assistant Principal at Cheatham Elementary School, bringing over 30 years of experience in education to her leadership role. She spent the majority of her career serving small East Texas school districts as both an elementary and high school RLA teacher.

In 2012, Ms. Burney earned the distinction as one of the top 10 secondary teachers in Texas. Ms. Burney arrived with eight years of administrative experience and currently serves as a trustee of her alma mater, Hughes Springs ISD. She fully embraces Clarksville ISD’s theme—every child, every classroom, every day— by focusing her efforts on providing meaningful mentorship to students and staff.

Education is truly a family tradition. Her uncle, George Jackson, was a former Clarksville High School principal, and her aunt, Jeanie Jackson, was a teacher and T-Stepper director. Additionally, both of her daughters are educators as well. Outside of school, she cherishes time creating memories with her five grandchildren, and her two rescues: Murphy and CoCo.
