Sanders, Melinda

Melinda Sanders is the principal of Cheatham Elementary School and is celebrating her 30th year in education. She has served Clarksville ISD for 20 years.

Mrs. Sanders began her career as a paraprofessional and coach before teaching physical education and history. She later taught special education, leading resource and inclusion classes, teaching vocational preparedness, and providing transition services. Her experience in teaching and student support has shaped her leadership as a principal, grounding her decisions in the needs of students and staff.

To Mrs. Sanders, “Every Child. Every Classroom. Every Day.” is a commitment to show up for every student, support every teacher, and make each day an opportunity for growth. She is committed to strengthening Clarksville ISD through relationships she has built over the years and the strengths of its schools and community.

When she’s away from campus, Mrs. Sanders treasures spending time with her family and heading out to the golf course. Her family is the foundation of her life and a constant source of purpose, perspective, and encouragement.
